Happy Birthday McCord 30

For McCord's 30th birthday I threw an awesome party with full dinner and we invited all his friends. It was super fun and we had a good turn out. I made fetachini Alfredo and also a meat sauce.
We also went out for a nice dinner/date night on the weekend. We went to Tucanos and saw Thor 2. It was super yummy and such a wonderful night out.
Presents:
1- McCord's siblings pitched in and got us the beautiful trim that is in our kitchen.
2- McCord's parents gave us a disposal for Christmas and for his bday.
3- my parents gave us new blinds for our front room so we can have some privacy in our new home.
4- I gave him his Cable collectible statue that now sits in the den. I purchased it from the comic shop.

Happy Birthday to my Sweetheart. I love you so much babe!

When considering who to choose as their Head Coach, the Salt Lake Lions organization had many variables to consider. Among the top categories were: adaptability, creativity, commitment, vision and leadership. They needed someone who could throw off the veil of tradition and respond to a new type of Ultimate Disc play.
The Lions needed someone with the vision to see the game change, the hindsight to know where it is headed, and the flexibility to change strategies on the fly. They were tasked with finding a person whose dedication to this sport and coaching would be hard to match, and a person whom they could trust implicitly – with the team, the sport and the organization as a whole.
There could be no confusion on where that person stood, no misgivings about their placement on staff and no room for second-guessing. There were many excellent candidates who hit most of those marks, though only one man who filled all the areas. After careful deliberation, and a rigorous vetting process, the Salt Lake Lions came to a conclusion: they would call upon a USU alumni named McCord Larsen.
Known for his unusual ideas, and creative outlook on the game, Coach Larsen will help the Lions to adapt to the new style and level of play which is prevalent in the AUDL (American Ultimate Disc League). This is a man who has already pulled away from the culture of the Horizontal and Vertical stack to utilize his own formations – a person who adjusts without bias and limitations.
His meticulous nature, socratic method and open book demeanor make McCord an excellent choice for a Head Coach. Everyone has a voice on his teams, and everyone has something to offer. Pulling from all angles, Coach Larsen is notorious for going against the grain and throwing opposition off-base – a skill the Lions plan to see from him this season.

Out with the old...

Goodbye to our old apartment on 900 e and 3631 S. in Salt Lake City. We are officially moved out. We moved all of our stuff into a "POD" and they will store it for us until we close on our new house. Tristan and Sarah are graciously letting us stay with them until we can move into our new pad.
Here is our memory pictures of this apartment: (I know we look terrible after a day of moving, but it's for history documentation sake that I post this hideousness)

Our offer was accepted for this little blue house in West Valley City.  If you haven't heard, we've been thinking of buying a house for a year now. This is the cute little split entry home that will soon be ours:

Update: Sept 1st-10th

Salt Lake Comic Con Experience:
By McCord:
Comic-Con was a huge success! Not only for the state and the convention itself, but also for me personally. I was on the committee in charge of the film festival. I met a wonderful group of new contacts, and made a lot of new friends. It was one of the best moves I've made in my career. Since then, I have been in talks for many other projects, we'll see if any stick. My dad was also able to attend. He was there every step of the way to support me. Those that met him were super impressed and have mentioned that they would like to talk to him more. I truly have an amazing father. I wouldn't even be close to where I am without him. I have already been asked to be on next year's panel committee which will open the doors to even more contacts. Should be a fun year.

Update on work, by Lisa:

University of Utah Admissions Office. I applied for a promotion in my office. I've been so nervous for this interview because this job could mean huge things for our family.
I had my interview this last Thursday. I've said many prayers to help me in the interview and I know The Lord was with me. I could feel it! I've never had such a great interview in my life. I truly am proud of myself!  Whether I get the job or not, it was the best interview I've ever done and it truly has been the best I've ever done.

Finished Ender's Game AND started and finished Ender's Shadow! McCord and I read Ender's Game together this last summer and I read Ender's Shadow these last 2 weeks. Check this new years goal off the list. Yes! LOVED both of the books! i absolutely recommend them to anyone and everyone! I'm ready for the movie in November now.

Our "Jelly Bean" car/"Zippy" got broken into this last week. The thief decided to shatter the window even though he could have lifted the handle and got in just fine. Not much to steal, but he did make it away with my temple bag (probably assuming it contained a laptop). We've since replaced the window and I hope to get temple clothes again soon.

McCord is in full time classes this semester at SLCC. He's retaking some classes to up the GPA as well as some perquisite English courses for an English major. He also has 1 more class to take to receive another Associate's degree from SLCC, so he's taking that as well. His work schedule got changed on us, and he's working more evenings. This semester is going to be harder than I thought, with less evenings together. we will push through and get him done with school as soon as we can so he can focus solely on his film career and Ultimate coaching career.

Talia is such a little climber. She's 16 months old this month! She can already climb up playgrounds and over anything.
It's amazing how an iceburg lettuce box can entertain a child for an entire afternoon. She also enjoys stories and comics with both mommy and daddy. She enjoys Dora, Curious George, and Tinkerbell fairies over any other television shows and movies.

Comics with Daddy.
